Roll Coating

There are numerous roll coating configurations available, divided into three main groups:
A) Gravure roll systems
B) Smooth roll systems with nip metering
C) Smooth roll systems with gap metering

Each group is divided into various sub-configurations, examples of the above mentioned groups being:
A) Direct / offset gravure with forward / reverse application
B) Two, three or four wet rolls configurations in forward or reverse mode
C) Comma- or steel/steel- coater in direct or transfer mode

The selection of suitable configurations depends on the quality requirements for the product,  the (physical) properties of the coating medium and the processing conditions for a given application.
